Transportation Options Offered to Disaster Recovery Center, Disaster Food Benefits Site

  Bolivia, NC – Brunswick Transit System, Inc. will be offering transportation to citizens who need to apply for Disaster Food and Nutrition Benefits or who need to visit the Disaster Recovery Center, but do not have transportation to get there.

Applications for Disaster Food and Nutrition Benefits are currently being taken at Odell Williamson Auditorium. FEMA has also established a Disaster Recovery Center at the Odell Williamson Event Center; both buildings are located on the Brunswick Community College campus, at 150 College Road NE in Bolivia.

Citizens who need to visit the sites to apply for benefits or seek assistance but who do not have transportation to get there should call Brunswick Transit System, Inc., at 910-253-7800. Brunswick Transit System, Inc., will try to work requests into their scheduled transportation routes as quickly as possible, though citizens should call a day or two in advance when possible.

Disaster Food and Nutrition Benefits applications will be taken from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays through Friday, Oct. 5, and will be taken 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6. FEMA’s Disaster Recovery Center is a facility where Hurricane Florence survivors may go for information about FEMA’s programs or other disaster assistance programs, and to ask questions related to their case. Representatives can also help survivors apply for federal disaster assistance. The Disaster Recovery Center is open Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
