The animal services division is responsible for enforcing all state and local laws, ordinances and resolutions relating to the care, custody and control of animals within the corporate limits of Boiling Spring Lakes.
This includes but is not limited to:
- Investigating cruelty or abuse cases.
- Impounding animals at large.
- Investigating bite cases.
- Educating the public on the importance of spaying and neutering pets and on good care of their pets.
- Canvassing the City to ascertain that all dogs are licensed with the City and current on their rabies vaccines.
- Responding to calls involving wildlife that our native to our area
All dogs kept within the city limits by residents shall be registered with the police department anNually in January of each year. Upon registration, all dog owners will be provided a numbered tag by the police department. The tag shall be attached to the collar of the dog as evidence that the dog has been registered. The dog tag will only be issued if proof of rabies vaccination is provided at time of registration. Registration is important so City staff can easily and quickly return a wayward dog to its owner.
The fee to register your dog is $10.00 or $5.00 if spayed or neutered.
The Pet Registration Form can be submitted electronically through our website or printed and brought to the lobby of the police department during business hours to have your pet registered.
Lost and Found Pets
If a lost dog or cat that is turned in to or found by the City's Animal Services personnel, every effort is made to identify the owner and reunite the pet. In the event this is not possible, the animal is transferred to:

Residents who are experiencing problems with feral, stray, or other animal problems are asked to contact the department by calling 910-363-0011.
