As spring comes into full swing and outdoor activity increases with the nicer weather, so does the need to mow and maintain roadsides. City Code Enforcement, as well as Public Works crews, will be out throughout the City helping to keep it maintained and an enjoyable place to live and play. Mowing along roadsides becomes difficult when basketball goals are left in the Right of Way, and can cause damage to vehicles and equipment. It is also a violation of City Ordinance 9-1 (a) (14) - The existence of any following conditions on any vacant lot or other parcel of land within the corporate limits whether on public or private property is declared to be dangerous and prejudicial to the public health or safety and to constitute a public nuisance: Any obstruction that exists on a public right-of-way between the property line and the curb or edge of the roadway, whether permanent, or temporary in nature. We ask that when not in use, please move basketball goals or similar devices away from the edge of the roadway to make this easier for traffic and vehicles that may need to pass through.
