Permits

Is a Permit Required?

A Floodplain Development Permit shall be required in conformance with the City's Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance (FDPO) prior to the commencement of ANY development activities within the Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA). To see if your proposed project is located in the SFHA, visit fris.nc.gov.

If it has been determined that the proposed project will be located in any portion of the SFHA, a Floodplain Development Permit Application shall be submitted to the Floodplain Administrator, along with any additional required documentation. Should you have questions, or require assistance, please contact the Planning & Zoning Department, or check the Flood Resource page for educational materials and links to important information.
