Nature of Work

Under supervision of the Community Center Manager and/or Parks & Recreation Director this position is responsible for customer service, scheduling of activities, working directly with Community Center Manager and the City to accommodate recreational programs, activities, meetings and special events. Responsible for cleaning duties throughout the community center.

Examples of Duties

Greeting and sign in all community center participants. Process monies from program and fitness room membership dues. Keep appropriate income log and cash register receipt daily totals. Daily cleaning duties of entire facility. Assist with programs as necessary with direction from Community Center Manager and/or Recreation Program Supervisor/Manager. Employee is subject to hazards in parks and recreation including work in both inside and outside environments and in extreme temperatures and noises. Duties may also expose the employee to human bodily fluids and the work as covered by OSHA requirements and bloodbourne pathogens.

Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from High School, at least one year clerical experience in an office setting, as well as experience in dealing and working with the public. Some supervisory experience is desirable but not essential.

Special Requirements: Valid NC Driver's License. Pre-Employment Drug Screening and Background Check required. Valid CPR/First Aid/AED certifications and/or the ability to gain prior to start date. Varying Work Schedule – Afternoon, Evenings & Weekends Required.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to physically perform basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, feeling, grasping, talking, hearing and repetitive motions. Must be able to perform medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or to 20 pounds amount of force frequently; and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move an object. Must possess the visual acuity to prepare and analyze data, operate a computer terminal, utilize measuring devices, operate a motor vehicle, and inspect the work of others.

Typical work schedule is Tuesday/Thursday 3:00PM - 8:00PM. In the future, pending Covid Restrictions - every other Saturday 7:45PM - 1:15PM

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $9.50 - $9.60 per hour
