What is a Comprehensive Land Use Plan
Land use plans are a requirement of the Coastal Area Management Act. It collaborates with other existing plans and polices to provide a snapshot of the jurisdiction and provides long-range growth techniques. The General Assembly requires local governments to have a reasonably maintained comprehensive plan or land use plan in order to adopt and enforce zoning. Growth patterns of future land use within the municipalities are identified. The land use plan serves as a guideline to the community's vision and helps balance the needs of varying land uses in a way that protects the economic and environmental assets of a community is a core principle of land use plans.

UPDATE IN PROGRESS - IMAGINE 2040 COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
The City of Boiling Spring Lakes has completed the planning and public engagement process for the Imagine 2040 Comprehensive Plan. Following a thorough review, the Planning Board has recommended that the plan be approved and adopted.
The updated Comprehensive Plan reflects extensive research, analysis, and community input gathered throughout the planning process. Public participation, including public input meetings and nearly 500 community survey responses, has helped shaped the vision and priorities for the City's future growth and development.
The Imagine 2040 Comprehensive Plan will now move forward to the Boiling Spring Lakes Board of Commissioners for consideration and adoption. The draft plan is available for public review at the link below. We encourage residents and community members to review the draft plan and learn more about the vision and recommendations for the City's future.
Once adopted, the Imagine 2040 Comprehensive Plan will serve as a guide for elected and appointed officials and City staff in making land use decisions and directing future policies and investments.
