Please take notice that the city has received the Certificate of Final Approval to Modify North Lake Dam from North Carolina DEQ Dam Safety. This certifies that the area upstream of the dam can now start to be impounded (filled) with water. The city completed a follow-up inspection of the area and closed the dam gate valve today, Monday, October 5, 2026. Public Works will continue to do minor lakebed clearing. The lake will take several weeks to fill, but it may be sooner depending on weather conditions.
