Burn Ban Lifted for the City of Boiling Spring Lakes

Effective immediately, the Burn Ban for the City of Boiling Spring Lakes has been lifted. This decision follows consultation with the county and local police and fire departments and is based on improved drought conditions.

Please remember that all residents are still required to obtain the proper permits before conducting any open burning. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our community safe.

***** Burning Rules & Regulations  *******

  1. Only yard waste 4 inches or less in diameter may be burned. No logs or stumps.
  2. No man-made materials may be burned at any time.
  3. All fires/open burning must be a minimum of fifty (50) feet from any structure or combustible material.
  4. Burning is allowed from Sunrise to Sunset only.
  5. The fire must be supervised at all times, and a pressurized water supply must be on site.
  6. Burning is limited to one fire per lot per day.
  7. The individual signing for the permit is responsible for the fire.
  8. NO CONTRACTOR may burn debris while clearing a lot.
  9. Businesses are not allowed to burn man-made material.
  10. Permits are valid only on the day issued.
  11. No burning is allowed in City rights-of-way.
  12. Permits can be obtained in person at City Hall or at the Police Department, Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  13. The City reserves the right to deny burning permits when weather conditions are not favorable or by order of the City Fire Marshal.
  14. This burn permit is subject to immediate cancellation at the sole discretion of the City Fire Marshal.
  15. Burning in barrels is allowed. (with a burn permit)
  16. Burning shall not create a nuisance.
  17. Material burned shall originate on the premises of a private residence and shall be burned on the originating premises only.
  18. Obtain burn permits from the City of Boiling Spring Lakes.

Note: Prescribed burning may be carried out only by the North Carolina State Forestry Service or the Nature Conservancy with full knowledge of the Boiling Spring Lakes Fire and Rescue, and with the approval of the North Carolina Forestry Service.
