Senior Program & Transportation Assistant
Nature of Work
Under supervision of the Parks & Recreation Director and/or Recreation Program Supervisor, this position is responsible for assisting in weekly senior activities and transportation program. Position requires customer service, scheduling of activities, and working directly with Parks & Recreation Director and the City to accommodate recreational programs, activities, meetings and special events. Responsible for cleaning duties throughout the community center and parks & recreation vehicles as necessary.
Examples of Duties
Confirming appointment and implementing the senior transportation. Including assisting participants in and out of parks & recreation vehicle and completing transportation logs on a daily basis. Assist with senior programs as necessary with direction from Parks & Recreation Director and/or Recreation Program Supervisor. Employee is subject to hazards in parks and recreation including work in both inside and outside environments and in extreme temperatures and noises. Duties may also expose the employee to human bodily fluids and the work as covered by OSHA requirements and bloodborne pathogens.
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from High School, at least one-year clerical as well as experience in dealing and working with the public. Some supervisory experience is desirable but not essential. Must have a clean driving record with a minimum of five (5) years of driving experience.
Special Requirements: Valid NC Driver’s License. Pre-Employment Drug Screening and Background Check required. Valid CPR/First Aid/AED certifications and/or the ability to gain prior to start date. Typical schedule M, W, F 10:00am – 3:00pm. Varying nights & weekends may be required.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to physically perform basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, feeling, grasping, talking, hearing and repetitive motions. Must be able to perform medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or to 20 pounds amount of force frequently; and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move an object. Must possess the visual acuity to prepare and analyze data, operate a computer terminal, utilize measuring devices, operate a motor vehicle, and inspect the work of others.
CLASSIFICATION: FLSA Non-Exempt $9.50 per hour
