New Year to Bring the Start of Several Road Projects in the City.

The start of the New Year will bring several road and infrastructure projects.  The table below shows the paving and repaving projects that the Board of Commissioners have awarded or will be awarding in early January:

The combination of dollars awarded to the City by FEMA for roads damaged while used as detour routes around North Lake and Pine Lake and City funds made available from the $ 25.00 Municipal Vehicle Tax, general fund dollars and Powell Bill funds will allow the City to undertake over $ 1.2 million in paving and repaving projects.  A public briefing for the residents along Crystal, Nassau and Pine Lake Roads will be held on January 13, 2020 @ 6 pm at City Hall so that the residents can ask questions of the engineers and Highland Paving of Leland, NC, the selected contractor for this work.

LAKE VIEW DRIVE – EAST (North Lake Park)

Carmichael Construction Company (CCC) will be starting work to replace this road that was washed away from Hurricane Florence.  This FEMA funded project has been delayed awaiting the issuance of a US Army Corp of Engineering Nationwide 3 permit.  With permit now received, bids were opened on December 5th with CCC being the lowest responsible bidder of the three (3) firms seeking this work.
