MAYOR CASTER TO DECLARE STATE OF EMERGENCY AT 7 AM ON SEPTEMBER 3RD; VOLUNTARY EVACUATION ORDERED

The City of Boiling Spring Lakes announced today that Mayor Craig Caster will be declaring a State of Emergency effective at 7 A.M. on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 in advance of the pending Hurricane Dorian.  A voluntary evacuation order will accompany the declaration.

The City is expecting, at a minimum, tropical storm winds beginning on Wednesday afternoon through Thursday and wide spread power outages are anticipated.  Flooding in low lying areas of the City are also expected.  The City will be opening its Emergency Operation Center (EOC) on Wednesday and the public should be aware that when sustained winds exceed 45 mph, that public safety personnel will not be able to respond.

The City encourages our residents to evacuate and, if not, to take necessary emergency measures as necessary.

The Board of Commissioners regularly scheduled monthly meeting for September 3rd at 6:30 PM is postponed and will be rescheduled.
