Summer Day Camp Counselor

Nature of Work
Under supervision of the Summer Day Camp Lead Counselor and/or Recreation Program Manager summer day camp counselors are responsible for the implementation of the summer day camp program schedule, including supervision of assigned participant group of 15 – 20 camp participants of various ages.
Examples of Duties
This position is responsible for supervision of campers during off campus activities and field trips. Behavior intervention as needed, the planning and implementing activities for assigned group following a hourly and/or daily schedule. Will also provide set-up and clean-up for each camp on a daily basis. Interaction with camp participants during activities is MANDATORY. Complete time sheet on a daily basis. Employee is subject to hazards in parks and recreation including work in both inside and outside environments and in extreme temperatures and noises. Duties may also expose the employee to human bodily fluids and the work is covered by OSHA requirements and blood bourne pathogens.
Minimum Qualifications: Required minimum of High School Diploma. Minimum of two years supervising youth in a recreational or educational setting.
Special Requirements: Valid NC Driver’s License. Pre-Employment Drug Screening and Background Check required. Valid CPR/First Aid/AED certifications and/or the ability to gain prior to start date. Varying work schedule between 7:00am & 6:30pm for 8 – 10 weeks of summer camp program.
Salary: $9.50 – $10.50 per hour DOQ
